I have used my local amazon's marketplace quite a few times already - both for out of print and even current books. I look at the best price offered for the new books plus the shipping that is being added on marketplace (on amazon.at/amazon.de books ship for free - no limit) and pick the one that works out cheaper for me. It's not just individuals but also companies that operate on marketplace and so far my experience has been good.

It looks like we are not going to get rich selling our Mystery Books.

Here is the response I got from the seller:

We received your note and you are correct. The price of the item is incorrect. We have adjusted our price for our amazon listing.

    Thank you,

    Customer Service Department

They lowered the price from $911 to $5. Quite a price decrease!

Judi, thanks so much for writing and asking! It's a huge relief to know that they weren't really expecting to sell the book at that price. It also is encouraging to any of us who want out of print books and might run into this type of high price in the future. I'll now remember it never hurts to ask!

It is kind of funny if you click on Cami's original link. There were 2 sellers of the same book for the same $911 price. Now, one seller, the one I contacted has the book for $5 and the other seller still has the book listed for $911.

LOL. How funny. So, it was just one of them putting up an insane price, and everyone else following suit.

OK, can someone explain why Samantha and the Missing Pearls is being sold for so much? Are people actually buying it for that? I have the book and if people are actually buying it for over $100 I think I would sell mine! But that's crazy! I can't imagine anyone has actually sold it for that much.

We had a thread about that book not too long ago. Someone here put it on their watch list, but so far, I don't think it sold.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm going to go with no. I know a few have been sold on Amazon for 15-30, just going by the fact that there were some up for that price, and now there aren't.

I think the reason it sells at even 15 is that this one seems to be pretty rare. It was off the AG site WELL before they offered them "all" for $2.
